Approved active chemical products (ACPs)

In principle, STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® does not permit the use of active chemical products (ACPs). However, with some textiles, the use of ACPs is unavoidable. In this case, ACPs may be used, provided that they are assessed by independent toxicologists as being harmless to human health. If they are used as intended, these ACPs may be used as certified in accordance with the ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® and also in textiles with STANDARD 100 certification. The listed ACPs are of course compliant with the current European legislation.

OEKO-TEX® reserves the right to remove ACPs from the list if new scientific findings should prove that health safety is no longer guaranteed.

Which ACPs are permitted according to OEKO-TEX®?

Certification as per STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® permits two groups of ACPs: biologically active products and flame-retardants.

One exception is flame-retardants and finishes based on or containing antimony trioxide / pentoxide: for these products, certification as per Annex 6 of the STANDARD 100 is not possible, even though these substances are also listed.

How to apply for an ACP listing

  1. Complete the application form and send it to together with all relevant information.

  2. If all necessary information has been correctly submitted, OEKO-TEX® contacts you and sends you an invoice.

  3. After receipt of payment, we commission two independent toxicologists to examine the ACP to be listed.

  4. If both toxicologists assess the ACP as harmless to human health in its correct application, it can be listed on the OEKO-TEX® homepage.
