We would like to inform you about upcoming updates that will soon come into effect for various OEKO-TEX® certifications.
As of the 6th of October 2025, the following changes will apply:
These changes have been made in line with new EU regulations.
Other changes:
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100
We have now highlighted in the standard the ban of use of biologically active products in OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 for articles for babies and articles with mucous contact that is in place since April 2025.
OEKO-TEX® banned the use of all biologically active products due to their potentially negative influence on human health in articles that are most sensitive.
Biologically active products, also called biocides, are chemicals designed to eliminate, control or repel harmful organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi etc. Biocides work by disrupting essential biological processes in target organisms, such as damaging cell membranes or interfering with metabolism.
OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT
As of January 2026, a new testing method will be implemented for PFAS detection in ECO PASSPORT products. This more reliable hydrolysis method was implemented for STANDARD 100 testing in 2024.
OEKO-TEX® added biodegradability as a requirement for certain chemical products. These affected products may either show proof through OECD / ISO test methods or by providing a self-declaration. However, biodegradability will only be mentioned on the certificate if OECD / ISO test results are provided. If specific substances are listed as biodegradable by ECHA, no OECD / ISO tests are required.
