Claims Usage

Who is permitted to make OEKO-TEX® standard related claims?

OEKO-TEX® customers with a valid MADE IN GREEN label, STANDARD 100 certificate, ORGANIC COTTON certificate or LEATHER STANDARD certificate; Distributors or retailers that carry at least one product with a valid certificate or label; OEKO-TEX® testing institutes, media publications, collaborating organisations.

OEKO-TEX® STeP, ECO PASSPORT and RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS customers with a valid certificate & OEKO-TEX® testing institutes, media publications, collaborating organisations are allowed to make claims.

 

Where to place the standard related claims?

The prerequisite for a standard-related claim is a correctly labelled product.

The claims may be place on - or off product and displayed on marketing material, websites and corporate materials (brochures, posters, newsletters, websites, presentations, fair stands, corporate communication, etc.).

 

Which claims am I allowed to make?

We provide pre-approved product claims for each standard, including product promises, key statements, B2B and B2C statements, as well as product descriptions. Detailed information and usage guidelines can be found in the respective standard sections.

If you wish to make a claim not listed in the Labelling Guide, please submit your request to: communication@oekotex.com.

 

What is the approval process for non-pre-approved claims?

  1. Ensure you meet all requirements to be eligible to make standard-related claims.
  2. Design your artwork and draft the claim(s) in accordance with the relevant guidelines.
  3. Submit your claim to communication@oekotex.com and wait for feedback or approval, making any adjustments as needed.
  4. Allow approximately one week from submission of your application and artwork to final approval.
  5. Once approved, you may publish your claim or print and attach any physical labels to your products.

 

How do we monitor the usage of claims?

Please note that we actively monitor claims made about OEKO-TEX® and its standards in the market. We also invite our stakeholders to inform us if they observe any misuse: https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/contact/

In cases of potential misuse, we conduct thorough investigations, which may lead to corrective measures or certificate withdrawal.
